Looking for Inspiration in Your Usual Day-to-Day Routine? Check Out the Color Factory Exhibit
Not only is Houston one of the largest cities in the United States, but it is also the most diverse city in America! Art is interwoven into the very fabric of the city: it is vibrant, philosophical, quirky, and a food-lover's haven. From local wildlife like bluebonnets to community heroes like NASA, to the stadium chairs from the iconic Astrodome, there are colorful things that inspire creativity everywhere you look.
On Saturday, October 26th, families and friends can have a color-filled day spent at the one-and-only Color Factory. The Color Factory is a collaborative interactive exhibit that debuted in San Francisco in 2017 and New York in 2018. What was intended as a month-long run unexpectedly flourished as a celebration of color and creativity that’s lasted over 2 years.
In October 2019, a whole new palette was introduced to Houston in the Upper Kirby neighborhood.
In over 20,000 square feet, we feature participatory installations of colors we’ve collected around the city (and space!) - hues that invite curiosity, discovery and play. Some of our favorite artists, creatives, designers, and makers are teaming up with us to tell their unique color stories and engage all of your senses in unexpected ways.
Color Factory collaborates with an incredibly talented roster of artists, illustrators, designers and makers, local food vendors and non-profits. The handful of the brilliant people involved in bringing you Color Factory include NASA, SOO SUNNY PARK, Alicia Eggert, Harvey & John, Project Color Corps, Andrew Neyer, Tout Suite, HYPNO, and many more.
We hope that the palette and projects offered within Color Factory will connect you to the colorful moments around Houston and in your own daily life. For more information, visit www.colorfactory.co.
If you feel like escaping Oakbridge Apartments in Pearland, Texas for the day, this event is a perfect opportunity to do just that! Trust us when we say that there’s no harm in getting out and exploring the greater community.
